Ok here is the concept... take a Four Speed 110cc pitt bike engine and put it on the back of a Radio Flyer. Sounds like fun in the making. Well we a gonna try it. Here's the twist---> All parts will be bought on EBAY and if it is a SUCCESS I'm gonna sell it on EBAY. I got the idea for the EBAY thing from the show on TLC called RIDES. Ok I had the wagon so every else is gonna be bought off of EBAY. I'm doing alot of the Paul Tuttel (of OCC fame) thing sitting and staring at the pile of parts to get the creative juices flowin. I haven't found a seller on EBAY yet for tubing so the 7/8" and 5/8" chrome moly tubing was bought from Applied Racing Technology. This is the place I buy all my chassis parts for our drag car. So far I have got the frame and rear swing arm tacked up. For the front end I'm gonna try a RAT ROD style straight axle. I'm gonna put coil over mountain bicycle shocks on all four corners for a smoother ride. I was gonna use slick racing tires at first but later changed my mind and went with treaded tires (I think they add character). Got hooked up with Damian on a EBAY buy of wheels and he is the go to guy for kart wheels and hubs. If you don't want to buy thru EBAY check him out at ---> GOKARTRIMS.COM He has got some kool painted up drag behind you Radio Flyers too. I think he has a fly fishing story or two he can tell you if your into wettin a hook. Ok back to some building.
With the rear swing arm welded up and motor securely mounted, which was a challenge due to the fact that it was in tended to be mounted in a bike, I ran into a real butt kicker. That would be the kick starter. I went with a kick start so I wouldn't have to carry a battery. I bent, cut, cussed, and welded on the kick starter. It is now straight and turned around 180 so it is now in the middle of the rear of the wagon. I may regret not going with the electric start in the future.
The front swing arms are done and shocks are mounted. Next challenge is the stearing. I was goint to use a seat like was on my first wagon I built but I found a mini sprint car wing on ebay that I think I'm going to use as a seat. Will have to do some glass work on it to stiffen it up. Let me know what you think? See pics 16 & 17.
Stearing was simple and I found some bicycle handle bars laying around the shop that were donated to this build. Now its time for a teardown and blasting and paint.
With the chassis peices painted, final assembly can begin.
The 4th of july Parade is comming up soon, need to step on it a little. I didn't like the bicycle handle bars so they are back off. Going for the drag bar look. Mutch better. Made up a sigle wheelie bar there wasn't enough room for two bars with the kick starter. Found a kids skate board to steal a wheel for the wheelie bar.
Ready for the parade made trial run. Its almost scary fast but I think it needs more speed. Gonna try to find more gears. First and second gears are just about useless. Third gear good for take off but watch out you will be on your back. Standonit in fourth and it toats the front wheels just rigt and is hualin butt in no time. You outta see the looks on peoples faces when you pass them on the street when there doin about 40mph. Yee Haa. Wasted wheelie bar wheel. Guess kids skateboards aren't made to go 40mph.
Well the parade was a sucsess. No problems. The crowd went wild with a pair of flyers doing wheelstands thru the parade. Gonna check Ebay for some hand grips and skateboard wheels.
Found some Kool grips and skate board wheels. Gotta alot of little things to touch up and I'll put a done stamp on this one.
Check back from time to time to see how the build is going. I get to work on it a couple of hours a day so its not gonna happen real fast.
